This morning as I awoke
and rubbed my eyes,
I sat up, startled by a sound
I had never heard in January.
I pulled aside the curtains
and looked out my window.
It was snowing ...
It was too warm to snow,
nearly sixty degrees,
but it was snowing.
And then I heard it again.
Thunder.
I had heard of this oddity
but never before
had I experienced it.
I watched as a single flash
backlit the maples,
oaks and white birch.
In that brief instant,
I’m sure even the birds
stared upward in awe.
In one brilliant streak
from sky to ground,
amidst thunder and snow,
I suddenly realized,
it was an exclamation point.
God had spoken.
Beautifully described moment, CJ....one that life brings so seldom you have to grab your pen and get the details done instantly so as not to forget a thing.

Indeed - God is master of creation not the other way round. He can breathe cold air from His mouth in the equator, and drink an ocean of melting arctic ice caps if He wishes.
Still, for us mere yawning mortals, it is mind bogling to link snow with 60degress washed down with a bolt of lightening.
Turn on the northern lights for more!
WOW! He DID make a statement! God creats the most fantasmic theatrics for us. Would have so enjoyed seeing this display, but thankful you've shared the imagery with us so beautifully!
Goose bumps! CJ this is a powerful poem. Oh, my, "God has spoken" yet again, warning us to mend our ways and seek His face. My precious friend, how well you have penned what you saw and captured the event in picture, too. A blessing...an instruction for you to go tell the nations...you have done that with eloquence. Thank you, precious. Wow! Stunning, absolutely stunning!
Nature is almost no match for the beauty of this write. I love the really clear images you painted and the sense of being a part of it all I felt as reading it. Great job.
When I was a very little boy I thought that thunder was the voice of God, not screaming to me after doing something wrong, but rumbling like a grandfather does when telling the child to let it go...or else.

Beautiful. Nature has many such occurances. When I was young I was always in awe when the sun shines and yet rain still fell. Victor
I too had heard of this and only experienced it once. I think sometimes that God does try to get our attention, and in writing we all know that an attention grabber is always followed by an exclamation point...loved that creative line of your write. God might have just been shouting HELLO or GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER!!!! Enjoyed this write very much CJ...I too am glad that you are feeling better.

He spoke here too, CJ. We had terrible storms with wall clouds and ominious thunder shakes, rattles and rolls. I rushed to my car from the office...cranked it up...rounded the expressway to a wider spanse of sky and there...It was a huge and brilliant double rainbow. To me this was our reward for the front rubbing elbows with another. God spoke and then started painting.
