*The first line is not my own and I do not know whose it is.

Why such harsh machinery?
Why such useless waste
to destroy the earth
with what we cannot make
break and buy it
but don't fix it
just replace it
and throw the other away
it's ok
it won't hurt us in our day
our children still play
and when their children play
and their children too
then will that old machinery
buried deep in the Earth's womb
come to haunt them
with ecological reprise
and we
in our graves
with the waste we so easily threw away
will rot
and carry on a buried legacy
of future's concerns
which we passed on
threw away
replaced
But when will society be redeemed?
When will it all come to light?
as we sleep in our rotting graves
as we live still
among weeds and machines of our own deviousness
when will we care
when will we dare
to stare this machinery down
to stop the clowning
of our environmental ground
Why such harsh Machinery?
Why such useless waste?
Why such haste
to destroy the Earth.

Oh, what the hell
are we under a spell
of use it and throw it away

The day
will become night
and we will lose sight
as sunset sets in
and darkness fades
into the night
and another day
a new day
a future day
away

We are a use it and toss it society. I've often pondered this same thought, only you put it into the words that needed to be said.
Excellent write.
