My son was killed in an auto accident when someone went into his lane and hit him head on basically. He died on March 8, 2007 and I still find it hard to even try to attempt to write about the pain of losing a sixteen year old son...but here goes...

It's been so long, yet still I cry

don't know if I can cope,

Just one more day I'm tripping through

bogged down with endless hope.

I don't know why it came your time

sixteen's just way to soon,

So much regret for things unsaid

now spoken to the moon.

I wish that I could say goodbye

but all around you're here,

To say I love you one last time

is written in each tear.

Still days go by and things feel wrong

it's hard to feel I'm whole,

When you were taken from this earth

it cut deep in my soul.

Your sister still she cries at times

I try to soothe her heart,

By telling her you love her too

though that's the saddest part.

Your brother how he honors you

wants just to be the same,

He misses you but everyday

he always speaks your name.

I know we'll meet again up there

where you with God now rest,

It's just that sometimes I can't bear

this sadness in my chest.

I hope that with what life I've left

I'll leave something behind,

That hope will flow from you to me

just like your blue eyes shined.

You'll never be forgotten

I know for now you're far,

It's just so sad that memories

can't take me where you are.

poignant read prayers for you

Melissa,...there is so much pain in this write of your loss and I, know it so well when my firstborn son died so long ago. The pain that we must endure as parents is unfathomable and even though time does tend to lessen the hurt...it truly never disappears. It surfaces when we least expect it as it floods our eyes and inundates our hearts with those gentle images of our flesh and blood in so many brief chapters that we cannot, wish nor dare let go. My heart is in sync with yours now that I know what tragedy you sufferred with the premature loss of your son and nothing I can say shall ever serve to soothe your heart and soul, but know this, I wish only to pray to the Creator for lessening that pain that courses within you and that you persevere through your faith and that you shall come to believe you will reunite with him in a new paradise when our time arrives.
Love,
Amor

Oh Melissa, how well you both endure and describe the heartache and pain of the loss of your son. The biggest fear all parents face is the loss of a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.....

Be always safe,
Karen

Oh, my, oh my....how unspeakably painful...just unimaginable for those of us who haven't experienced it. May you somehow, someday, find healing, and peace. Words fail. Hugs and love.

As a father and grandfather I cannot imagine how very painful this must have been for you. To lose a child is every parents worst nightmare. Hugs across the miles.

Melissa,
My deepest and most heartfelt condolences for the loss of your son. The pain of losing a child is one that trumps all other pain. I, too, have never experienced this, so I can only emphasize, but that said, you have penned a beautiful tribute in your son's memory. I am sure he is proud of you and smiling on you, every day.

Best regards,
Jill

Beautiful tribute to your young son. I lost an infant baby girl twice in my life. Hardest pain I ever had to bear. Never thought that kind of pain existed. Sixteen is so young to go. I'm so glad that God has given you the strenght to write about your loss, and with such beauty. Writing, was a healing for me. It helps express what you feel inside, and that is so important. You are so right, he will never be forgotten. It's been years since I lost my babies; the hard pain has gone, but their memories are still with me. May God be with you.

Very sad, but comforting too to know that you can write about it and talk about it to his brother's and sisters. So many youngsters killed on motorcycles, I begin to dread seeing them on the road. I know my daughter Kathy 41 is a motocyclist along with her husband and when on the road I worry about her too. Each year they take a trip, this year was to Finger Lakes, NY. too far away for riding a motorcycle from PA. He is with you in spirit always but death is not final, he is up in heaven with God and the angels and doing great.
