Cigarettes and liquor take the place of you and the space that you used to fill in my life What seemed to be real billowed up and away as if it were never there Leaving behind the stagnant stench of what once was ashes, ashes, we all fall down Each day rolls into the next seamlessly I have stopped counting the days yet each one finds me opening my eyes -- alone I am not needing you but I am wanting you I am not craving you but I am missing you I wasn't what you expected...that can be accepted but it hurt me just the same No one is to blame It wasn't meant to be so I continue to be me and hope someone can see that my love and beauty are free All I ask is to be treated fairly

Excellent write, Blackberry! Interesting enough, I posted one a while back "I Keep On Loving" - almost on the same page. I like how you have portrayed the inner strength and growth - very inspiring.

Well said...I like the way you presented this piece. It shows the inner growth that more people should try to strive for, turning the negative into a positive learning experience. Without hurt, pain and disappointments we can not mature or grow, it is obvious that you don't let life control you instead you take what you need and keep moving forward, Very well written!

This is an exceptiional write in format, wordplay and imaginative art. Your hurt is there but your inner strength shines through and although he hasn't treated you fairly you have not given up on men or love. Really different I liked it a lot.

Hmmm, I think you missed the point of this piece, Ed. It wasn't about life being fair, it was about being treated fairly by an individual and there is a difference between the two.
