O’ Sweet little girl of mine
A day you entered my space and time

A sun rose and a moon glowed
As my heart converted to your abode

Looking into your darling little face
I knew God arranged just the time and space

As from His hands you were gently whirled
Into this foreign, mysterious world

At home plate with a catcher’s mitt
I stood there ready for His targeted pitch

It was then and there my priorities changed
As my new focus became clear and plain

To love and protect this sweet little girl
That God kindly placed inside my world

And so I loved you, nurtured and cared
Would defend at all costs if anyone dared

So today I stand here proud and humbled
As I recall, yes, I sometimes fumbled

Raising a child requires patience and love
And faithful rapport with our Father above

Added wisdom from my own loving mother:
When you fall, you get up, you dust off and recover

I am now pleased with the work we’ve done
My prayer… a part of me will live on

To make a difference in this troublesome world
Bring focus to her own little boy or girl

The two of you, together in this world of chaos
Seek identity with the only One who can truly save us

Quench your spiritual peace-seeking thirst
Through Him who sent to us His First

Don’t sit on a precipice of "what you've heard"
Grasp authenticity in his divine word

Today we give our baby girl’s hand
To a kind, gentle and loving man

As a part of me I give to this man
I want all to know this and understand…

Whether still on this jagged earth I roam
Or have taken flight to my heavenly home

My baby girl, of Godly Seed
Is my eternal focus…whenever, however, wherever… the need.
