I saw the movie with my daughter and she was in awe. The message was a very good one. Fine writing.

Regardless of what some are calling an excellent screenplay and the popularity among young people and older, former owners of Barbie dolls and Ken, I tend to disagree with all the fervor and box office success. Bundled with Oppenheimer, a very serious subject of history, I understand that it did quite well in the box office as well. Young America is going to the theater more than ever and older America and worldwide, many are paying the price to stream new releases, while credit card debt in the United States is at an all-time high.

I have not seen the movie, but may in the future to see what all the hype is about. But I recall that Xanadu, headlined by the great teacher and singer Olivia Newton John, along with Gene Kelly, one of the greatest film singers and dancers ever, was panned by the critics and was a box office flop.

But it seems like people today are all into fantasy, finding reality either to boring or too scary to deal with. With so many living in fantasy worlds it makes me feel a bit worried about our future when serious problems need to have their time and attention in movies along with young people participating rather than escaping to a pink world that doesn't exist.
