I hear giggles all the way down the hall
And wonder what he is doing to those poor dogs now.
I am not worried, not at all.
He’s a sweet boy and they, good dogs and how,
Do they ever know and love as well, our grandchildren.
His stocking feet slide swift across my hardwood floor.
Kaboom, Klunk, “NyNy I fell down just then”.
He says coming to collect his hug, four years and forlorn.
“Well, TyTy, that’s what happens when we skate inside like this”.
I tell him with my gentlest, most warm and caring kiss.
“I love you NyNy”. and again he rushes off to play.
“NyNy, did you wash my pants with the pockets full of rocks?”
Sigh… and sigh again as it begins. So that is what that noise is, NO WAY.
Hours later, boy long gone, I bend to pet my pug and spot Tyler’s dirty socks.
He is, thank God, never all that far away.
