When Did It Happen

When Did It Happen

I don’t know when it happened
or how, or when I created

the garden—
(a secret place
where I dare stroll daily
     remembering  and dreaming)


A place where
two glorious pure life-like statues
male and female
face each other
equally parted
north and south

surrounded
by trees and flowers which forever
bloom. And where a constant gentle
breeze sways leaves

to play a melodious lullaby
only lovers can hear.

It is here—
in this garden where I am free to feel
(like a flower blooming)
and to love you endearingly
without regrets.

It is also here, I realized
one-sided love is sometimes as cruel
as time and reality—
cleaving the heart
and leaving us impotent.

Years travel reprehensibly—
and my daily walks to this garden
have subsided to brief gazes
in its direction
only to acknowledge
a love           that once was….

So easily a write to read and to relate to. One sided love feels sad and goes on in memory too.

There is much reflection within thoughts....and when they express the view of memories passed they are more so...

OMG where do I start
Yes still sitting here just staring at this poem trying to come up with an objective review
But I just can't because my emotions are flooding through each word
smelling each flower I am in the neighboring garden can you see me waving and noding to each stanza saying Oh yes i know this so well
You have described so elegently what is is like to live with a burning love kept inside that will never be quenched
that bittersweet line that is walked cursing the reality outside the garden
This poem has become my all time favorite of yours

Your remembrance of this lost love is ruminative but it also touches the heart with velvet gloves. A poignant and sensitive insight that effectively captures the longing for the emotional beauty of what once was. Moving sentiment blessed by a dew of roses!
