Peace, Where Art Thou?

The War in Iraq and Afghanistan have always been on my mind and in my prayers.

Peace, Where Art Thou?

The war in Iraq goes on and on
With little mention of Afghanistan.
Why do we send our military so far?
Why do they hide pictures of those
carried home?

These answers I do not have
Only the powers that be have knowledge.
We pray they will not keep our
people much longer,
We pray that the number of dead
reaches zero.

Does not matter if you are for the war,
Or matters not if you are against it.
What matters is our fathers, sons, husbands,
mothers, daughters, wives.
Our sisters, brothers, our aunts, uncles, cousins.

Men that are loved, woman that are loved,
Dreams never to be complete,
Rings never to be worn
Babies never to be born.

Never to see their families again,
Oh! The ramnifacations of death are so many
I cannot go there, too sad, too horrible.
Do we even know the number death took?

I, for one, continue my daily prayers
Please bring all our people home alive.
Please allow them to return to family units.
Please bring peace not only to us, but also the world.

They need to remember the sacrifices of ALL veterans, not just those who served in Afghanistan and Iraq! Excellent reminder, and thank you for remembering our brave men and women who serve to keep us free!

This is a beautiful prayer. I, too, pray for their safe return and for peace to reign throughout the world.

God bless you. Kathy

You know what this means to me, the daughter of/sister of/niece of/cousin of Veterans, and a Veteran, myself - thank you for remembering the sacrifices, paid - still being paid - well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Tina, we all pray and hope for the best for our men and women in uniform. Thank you for reminding us to renew and redouble our prayers in such a kind yet insistant way. I love your writing.
