I can't speak for the men but I know most women experience this when a dream is about to become a reality.

He finally said the words,
Words I have wanted to hear,
Words I have been afraid to hear
Just two very small words.

"This Saturday"
Applicable words
Considering what has transpired
Between two who have yet to meet.

Is he as apprehensive as I,
Does he suffer anxiety
Does he dread it as much as he desires
Is the want tangled up in fear?

We share so much in mind
Experience the same dreams
Want the same destination
I Need this to be right.

We know what the other wants
Feel each other's needs
I am anxious to give to him
To wallow in his strength.

Then why do I feel like a school girl?
Must get my nails done
What do I wear
Will we have things to talk about?

All that school girl nervousness
Is so unimportant....
A journey I cannot take
Cannot walk that road again.

And yet, my mind is in a jumble
I want this so
Need this so
Must bury my weakness
My weakness of self doubt.

Can I be all he thinks I am
Will I fill his desires?
I need him to want me again
I will make him want me again.

I am who he thinks I am
I can keep his interest
His desire for me will be strong
He will want no other

Together we will be alone
In a society that frowns
Upon two who reach out
And make internet fantasy a reality

Great write. I love the way you led me through the whole process. Internet love is frowned on because of the number of deaths that have occurred. I hope yours blossoms and is the real thing. Liz

...you weave a web of postive anxieties...and online...between the lines...make real...the wishes only two can know...here in pen...alone.

Anxiety filled write through the internet, a new wave way of dating I take it. Guess I am still old school, preference is for face to face, but I do understand....

Be always safe,
Karen

Tina,
I experienced these same anxieties, just last month. It is so easy, I guess, to know someone through phone calls, e-mails, etc. but be so apprehensive about spending time with them, in person. In my case, I had met the individual before and we were offline friends, first. That being said, we had not seen each other in quite some time and people change. Fortunately, in my case, the day was perfect and lived up to the expectations I had envisioned in my mind.

You captured the emotional aspect of this poem and topic, very well.

Thanks,
Jill

This poem so well describes the insecurities and doubts and negatives that nearly socially paralize us vs. the desire, need, and comulsion to commune with others on a sexual, intimate, intense level that only two can usually share. I love it. Great write.

Love,
Kathy
