I have never witnessed such a terrible tale
as I had on that dark, desert night.
I had a nightmare about the end of the world
and how our souls died in utter fright.
If I could turn back time, I would, no doubt
twist those hands backward and glue them down.
I never tell a lie because lies are only darkness
and Lord knows, there’s enough darkness now.
When I look back into my past I see that tragic night
and my eyes deadlocked on the computer screen.
I’m afraid of Man because the Boogieman is not real
and only Man can make Man writhe and scream.
On my way to work, I saw the news of that night...
late breaking news and alerts by the score.
Hair raised and tears withdrawn from this soul.
Unwitnessed and yet changed forever more.
Death visited the desert mountain that night
and moved along with music’s sweet refrains.
What was a joyful night is now no more
and misery and heartbreak are all that remains.
