~to the 70+ year old person who sent me the wonderful compliment~
thank you
I wake to
springtime with
the color green
dangling from my
roots
winter's frost
done clear a path
for much to grow
Lord I thought
I'd never see the
sun again
I wake with limbs
dry
with the draining
of winter's lula-byies
seeping in my
cracks
and child my back
feel that sun
and my joints
sing songs
of blooming
and just when I
think
I's too old
I open up my mind
and I grow
and laugh
ain't life
funny....
This poem beautifully describes feelings that I can completely relate to. The way one feels after winter, (real or as a metaphor)and how sunshine, nature, warmth make one feel alive. Laughing is so much part of being alive.
This is adorable! I just love old trees and thanks to you, I've met one who understands!
I think this is a brilliant poem and I've saved it to my library for the future.
Ah Mitzi, I'm convinced the spirit never grows old; just the body! Had a friend who at 89 thought she could still climb onto counter tops and clean cupboards as she used to once upon a time. Unfortunately, she forgot about balance and heights, and went tumbling down! Enjoyed the read! :)
God Bless
Lots of love

I love your poem, and I like the linguistic form you've used to denote dialect. Good imagery.

Looking for you in the jungle gives me jungle fever. But you are up north where your personification of an old tree reviving in spring is superb.
