*is there sumthing in the water? no no
must be sumthing in the air? sho sho
is there sumthing wrong with the dirt? don't know
cause the fruit it's barren don grown dead

I saw worlds collecting at my feet

they toss their men my way, telling me to go forth and build

they know i got rhythm in my palms, make believe it belongs to them if they can just get under my skin

see they know the art of war

written in caves in the dark

they learned the art of war

feed to them with all things hidden under rocks

and they know to collect under my feet in secret ....know too well the problems of elevation

they will secretly stroke my ego in dark watch it bloom like the moon

track my cycle

track my progress

than get under my skin and pretend that the rhythm belongs to them

I have seen worlds form and collect at my feet

Throwing their men my way thinking the giant asleep

Chase him disgrace him for all to see

Stroke my ego at the pace of his defeat

Watch it grow and bloom like the moon

Watch it go all too soon

Patience is a virtue

I tye rages round my head, you say better for the show

You know how to stop my flowers grow

You say you the leader cause I birth kings bathe in gold

You mix metal say better for the show

You know how to stop my flowers grow

Only two free

The mules and the men

Only two free

The mules and the men

And I watch us grow like pussy willows

And sprout fur where knowledge pose to be

Covers sure do make for a better show

My ego takes me two coffee creams where I reign supreme

With rope to neck walking in circles wondering…..

Why my flowers don’t grow right

Mitzi - Unique and powerful poem. I liked the rhythm and imagery and the refrain. The image "I tye rages round my head, you say better for the show" is especially striking. Powerful poem inspired by Billy Holiday's most powerful song. - David

This wouldn't be as good if it was single spaced. I just go along an enjoy the phrases, still so mysterious how you make the reader feel he/she's intruding on something such a private drama--you compose like a musician even tho' it's true poetry. Stay cool...

Fabulous, Fabulous poem. I love the refrains, weaving through your lines -- love the dark, knowing eyes looking steadfastly at the truth. I love the rythm and the obvious black voice speaking. You certainly have a great ability to write! --Charlie

WOW dear Mitzi ... you are exhilarating with the vernacular. The strength of character oozing through your writing is amazing. There is so much about this write that touches on the corporeal and also on the spiritual. Your work is always exceptional. Never rest your quill! Blessings of Light and Wisdom ...

Eyes close to real, voice takes as a journey cast, for the first rock falls short, as time remembers, so does the earth and the sun, folk mixes well in the pot, stew is as pure as the write... Walt
