I've given you the morning of my day
And every dream of every night I've had,
The February gloom an light of may,
And all the poems drifting in my head.
I've given love for ignorance and blame
And all the pain you brought was paid with awe.
I staked my past and future on your name
And now you take my dignity and go.
You'll come again and I will have to pay,
But I have paid my debt and now I'm through.
I've given you the morning of my day.
