When it's dark it's already late .
The light has gone ,
there's no escape .
Reaching out to feel where
to go .
Limited visions all I know .
My eyes are bad I cannot see ,
the letters that's in front of me .
Blinded in a blur of blinking and squinting ,
nervously winking at distorted images there and smiling as if I don't care .
I'm not like everybody else .
What I see I keep to myself .
It must be hell to lose one's sight. Fortunately my eyes are, while nearsighted with astigmatism, still quite good and useful, both night and day.
But yesterday, I watched an entire movie without closed caption. I understood only a few of the words spoken, but still enjoy the music. My hearing loss no longer allows me to listen to groups of people although I can still converse with individuals both on the phone and in person. That will leave me in time, because my hearing loss is increasing.
