The poem below expresses Elizabeth’s feelings about her separation from Harry after being married for 24 years. Happily, her last line did not come true , for after 20 years of being apart Harry and Elizabeth married each other again.

Poem Artwork

When he walks by

I think of love and moonlit sky.

But there’s no moon. It’s clear daylight.

The sun shines bright.

And love is gone like every night.

When he walks by

again I think of midnight’s moon.

But daylight comes and way too soon.

This time I hear him say my name.

I cannot speak. Oh, what a shame.

He walks right by and through the door.

I will not see him anymore

You had to go deep into the lost and found of happenstance to find happiness again. Good for you for writing this poem and for righting that last line 20 years later!

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
