This was written during a time that I was experiencing something real. Though I am no longer with this person, I must say that the experience will never be forgotten.

I know why…

If someone asked me why I live

I’d say

I know why

I live because God said, “Let there be”

And - I was

I live because, the world - the world would not

Have been

Complete without my presence

I live because I’m needed

I live because - I’m Me

If someone asked me why I think I’m needed

I’d say – I don’t think

I know - why

I’m needed to bring light

To the dark crevices in this here world

Those that don’t believe

Just look

Look at me and see that

Grace is sufficient

I’m needed because no one

Can love

Like I love - No one can- flow

Like I flow

No one can give what was meant

For me

To give- No!

No one

If someone asked me why I love - My One

I’d say

I know why

I love him because he’s God’s heart

Made manifest-

For everyone? - No! – Not everyone

Just for me

I’d say that no one can hold a candle to his love for me

I’d say that no one can speak

The language he speaks

To my inner most

Parts- No! - No One

I’d say, I love him

Because

Just because

Then, with a twinge of frustration

I’d say - why do you ask?

Would you even understand?

I’d say - why do you ask?

Will you use my answer to get him- to me?

I’d say… I’d say…

I’m tired of saying

I just want to

Show

I’d say…

I’m exhausted from saying

I just want to

Caress

I’d say…

I’m frustrated with saying

I just want to

I – just - want

Him

Here

With me

So that I can minister

I love you to - My One

This day

If someone were to ask me why I wrote this poem

I’d say

I know why

I wrote this poem for him

For who?

For the one who makes my heart scream

For the one who crept into my soul unexpectedly

To make his home

For the one you can see – in a picture? - No! - In my eyes

For

The One

My One

If someone were to ask me why this poem is different from the rest

I’d say

I know why

And then - I’d walk away

Knowing deep inside - Why

Knowing deep down inside that they’d probably say

“What you feel has been felt before”

And those words

Those words I’d rather not hear

Because

This that I feel

This fullness that I feel

This overwhelming heat that I feel

This overtaking adoration that I feel

This patience testing passion that I feel

This flesh burning throbbing that I feel

This mind claiming love

That I feel

This that I feel is mine

It is

Different

I’m lost

In love

And I don’t want to be

Found- No! Before I let them take this that I feel and lessen it

I’d simply walk away

In hopes that I could stay

Lost in him

Forever

Lost in who?

Tru-Sum, in you!

Baby, in you!

My love, in you!

Ahhh, lost in you!

If someone were to ask me why you

I’d blush and say

Um! I know why
