LIGHT A CANDLE TO THE MOON

Light a candle for the parents whose child is lost,
A breath never taken, a little heart stopped,

Light a candle, light a candle for them all,
Light a candle.

Let the moonbeams heal, and her light give hope,
Let the stars give grace to help them cope,

Light a candle, light a candle to the moon
Light a candle.

Light a candle for the boy whose life was lost,
And the girl who saw him dead,
And his broken little head,

Light a candle, light a candle for them both
Light a candle.

Let the moonbeams heal, and her light give hope,
Let the stars give grace to help her cope,

Light a candle, light a candle to the moon,
Light a candle.

Light a candle for her father whose life is gone,
He gave it all away
But his love lives on,

Light a candle, light a candle for them both,
Light a candle.

Light a candle for the husband, and all the pain inside,
The years of hidden grief, and all the tears he’s cried,
Light a candle, light a candle for my Love,
Light a candle.

Let the moonbeams heal, and her light give hope,
Let the stars give grace to help him cope,

Light a candle, light a candle to the moon
Light a candle.

Light a candle for the son who tries to get it right,
His parents both in pain,
He needs to see some light,

Lights a candle, lights a candle in the rain,
Lights a candle.

Let the moonbeams heal, and her light give hope,
Let the stars give grace to help him cope,

Light a candle,
Light a candle to the moon,
Light a candle.

Light a candle for us all,
Light a candle,

Light a candle for the World,
Light a candle.

This poem feels like a chapel full of candles and a rocking lullabye. It feels like a pass-the-torch and keep- the-flame message that can not have too many repeats.~~ Diana Legun

I'm thinking now of my older brother who lost his youngest son more than thirty-five years ago. He was killed by their family dog that the little child loved so dearly. Several years following that, his oldest son died from a heart attack at thirty-one. Like you, my brother has lost his soul-mate as well...had to give her up three years ago. May the lighted candles and moonbeams continue to heal his troubled heart. Thank you for this wonderful write, Diana.

Love,

David

Dear Diana, very sorry for the parents who lost a child and even more for the child who has to struggle again to enter into the earth sphere. Each child is a world that we lose. We have only to pray for them in order to get the strength to be able to survive and enter again our sphere. Graet poem Love emile

A beautifully written montage of our ever-present needs in this world, the rhythmic repetition of the call for action pulling us ever and ever closer to fulfillment.

Very well done, Diana. Thank you for sharing this unique and powerful work.

Oh, Diana... How did you know that I needed this today? I just learned that a dear friend of mine had a six month old baby that passed away earlier this week. My heart is breaking for her and this helped me to remember that many prayers will be with them and their family and many candles lit, I am sure...

Thank you...

Diana,
This world needs too many of these candles to burn in honor or in memory of the times which have brought sadness or grief. Thank you for sharing this soothing poem and though I'm a little late, welcome to Author's Den.

All the best,
Jill

...this is a beautiful work...because the message...light...is of hope...and perhaps Mother Moon...in her illusiveness...will listen...and in darkness...reach out with softened brilliance...to accept the flickering faith of many wishes.
very well penned Diana...

"Light A Candle To The Moon" is first of all, an intriguing and beautiful title. The poem seems like a song, making me wonder whether you have your own melody for it in your heart. It's a call for compassion, and for each of us to be that one who lights a candle in someone's neediness. Very nice.

Connie
