Betrayed, hurting, but my heart's not broken...

My Heart's Not Broken.......

My Heart's not broken,
It could not break,
For my One True Love my Heart does ache.
You came along and saw me through
the days of pain and grey,
but now this gorgeous sunny morn
I choose to walk away.
You've made your choice,
strung me along
and now I've paid the price,
but you will know just what you've lost....
Eternal Sacrifice.
Have your white-haired lady,
your ancient Meryl Streep,
but don't think I shall mourn your loss,
don't think that I shall weep.
The years we shared are all gone now,
and I shall not retract,
no longer will I stand by you
please take this as a fact.
I'm free and single,
much to give,
don't care for Dali's art,
I'm up for Love
the deeper kind...
I'm offering my Heart...
To someone who will treat it
as though it's made of glass,
Fragile, Pure and ever True,
Authentic, Good not crass...
You have Betrayed, Disloyal been,
but now your bed you've made,
She'll suss you out,
see through your act...
Naive old Meter Maid.....
My Heart is bruised not broken,
and I will hand the token,
you gave to me the day we met
back to you to keep...
the cold, stone heart it has become,
For now I'm walking into Sun......

The feeling of betrayal. I know it well. I have no time for players, lairs and users. Never be with someone not willing to protect your heart better than they protect their own. It reminds me of the line of a poem I wrote.

When I gave her my heart I could feel it crack,
And there is something about a broken heart
That makes you not want to take it back.

This poem tells me you were hurt by someone you trusted, but you had the strength and resolve to move forward. Always seek out the sun and like a flower you will begin to thrive.

Such a powerful write, Diana. Sadly, I am sure many broken-hearted people can relate. Thank you for sharing. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,

The years we shared are all gone now.....powerful words indeed. Be careful though, somewhere in those years are things you really don't want to lose, not shared with him, but things that could be lost with a wholesale blackout of time past.

That said I note from your timeline of poetry that you were pretty inactive here in 2013. Me too. Different reasons I imagine. Workin' on it. Patrick

heart is bruised not broken and I wll hand the token, each verse is expressing the way in which you were betrayed and hurt by someone you
loved and had great faith in. Loved reading it today. Thanks for the write.

I ached in a very similar way at one time. I'm proud of you! You go, girl. The right person will come along when you are not expecting it. Time heals the bruised heart, dear.

Love ya!

Methinks the lady doth protest too much...
You should have flipped him that token like you were flipping him the bird
Then walked away without a word.
(But I do love the Meryl Streep and the meter maid jabs)

I think the form, the one long stanza and the line break choices of this poem are excellent, Diana. I especially like the colorful descriptions given the 'other woman,' "Have your white-haired lady, your ancient Meryl Streep,". Those two lines popped right off the page with originality, as did "Naive old Meter Maid...." There is something extra inside a poem that contains specificity as this. I feel the deep sound of a clanking-shut metal door, by the time I finished reading. And then it finishes with an element of confidence moving into the light. Very good writing, Diana ~~ Diana

From all your writings I have previously read, you are not one to be taken advantage of. No, you are kind, gentle, sweet, and loving...one who has much to offer. One day--perhaps very soon--he will realize what could have been. But then he'll realize it's way too late, for you have stood up to his uncaring ways. Stay brave, dear heart.

Hugs,

David
