One Night…

Teenage Romance…just one night,
but never meant to be…
Yet the memory remains so meaningful, and as clear as those crystalline stars…

Poem Artwork

                               One Night…

Teens hand in hand
on Moonlit beach
one night to share young hearts
the stars above so crystalline
a page from Nature’s art…

Beguiling Moon smiled down on them
so tender was their night,
but destiny’s road was forked two ways..
lives never to unite…

Very nice, Diana. It touches a certain shade of feeling we have all gone through. I am reminded of the aphoristic observation that "Love is regret" but also a link that runs through all of us right up to the last breath... [Hope you recovered satisfactorily from the COVID-19!]

So sweet words, Diana! This brought back memories for me once again.

I always remember my first love Danny, even up to this date I have been thinking about him all of my life. Some memories are too fond and beautiful to be erased from our minds.

Alas, the spark was extinguished, but not by the waves… Perhaps by other means that kept them apart. The untold story. Your story?

Your: "I believe that all healing is letting go, and all letting go is healing. Writing is my ultimate 'letting go'!" is more than a noteworthy piece of wisdom, it is perhaps the single most debilitating aspect of loss. At least, that has been my experience. Here, in this poem, you bring such a keen subtext to the thoughts that no one can come away after reading it thinking that this enigmatic influence called love is a tamable emotion. It finds you, not the other way around. Keep writing.

Yes, but the magic of time turns those teen flings into raging torrents of passion the likes of which melted cupids arrows as if they were made of ice cream, which they probably were. I'm sorry, but I got carried away there for a moment...Love your poem, Diana. But not as much as I love you. Sigh.

Sometimes the absence of words can tell a short story of absolute beauty... You did it here, Diana.

Although it was at a Walgreens soda fountain in 1952, this poem of yours so much as my "Girl on the Kitty-corner Stool."

I can completely relate; I have lived this. Well done, Diana. Succinct verses but very evocative. Love, peace, and best wishes,

Those old teen memories of budding love are so enchanting and memorable; no doubt we all have them. Simple and Lovely, as the love itself.
