Memories of love on a full mooned night of
celebratory fireworks.. .’Guy Fawkes night’ here in UK..5th November..

Poem Artwork

            FULL MOON AND FIREWORKS….

The glorious full mooned sky
crackles and explodes
with vibrant colour
as mysterious night air
steals in through open windows
caressing my cheek with a
damp coolness.

Memories stir deep within
as I reflect on the day you
left my world.
My eyes focus upon
Pink Roses glowing delicately
In the darkness,
their perfumed infused petals
drifting carelessly in the soft
night-time breeze..
tiny drops of moisture scintillating gently
within magical moonbeams.

I breathe deeply of the intoxicating night air
which holds a thousand untold secrets
and feelings of intense sadness
settle for a moment before being
swept away up high amongst benign starlight..

A rocket explodes way above
in full shimmering beauty
and I smile and see your boyish grin
before me..
your eyes shining and deep
with the love we shared for so long.
In that instant I know all is well..
this was always my destiny…

The intense energy of our Love
flows seamlessly within the
embrace of the Quantum Field,
strong, powerful and indestructible,
this information carrying
forward from this moment in Space
Positively changing futures forever…

THIS WORK LEADS ONE TO BELIEVE THAT MOONLIGHT NEVER FORGETS. AND, FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE THIS...AT JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT, IT REFLECTS THE LOVE-ENERGY ONCE EXPERIENCED IN ITS GLOW. A FINE SHARING, DIANA...THANKS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Diana this is soul poetry, written from the soul, touching the soul. Oh, how beautiful, your poem, and your memories.

Dear Diana,

I have pondered upon this piece since the time you posted it. I have read it time after time, each time, thinking about the beauty of the language that comes from your mind. I have read, time and again, what others say about your thoughts. Some speak briefly; others comment in broader terms. I have no idea how far down the page my thoughts will reach. I do hope what I say reaches the mark with accuracy. If not, then I pray it isn’t too far away. I know you have suffered quietly for years now over the loss of Melvyn, your husband. You always speak about him in gentle terms that would not be easy to replicate, for they seem to be drawn from the depths of your soul. The same can be said of “Full Moon and Fireworks.” As you reflect upon the day he left, could the roses you see and smell maybe be roses that Melvyn sent you on some special occasion? And are the tiny drops of moisture tears you are shedding from thinking about that moment? From that point on, your poem speaks of a love relationship that some, perhaps many, do not achieve. I’m sure there are many on AuthorsDen who can feel the depth of your loss through the beauty of your writing. It is a beauty that is not easily matched. However, I can only speak for myself. Blessings to you always. Reprimand me if I have spoken in a manner contrary to your thinking, dear heart.

Love ~

“….a thousand untold secrets” . . . the mood of this writing is effectively painted, with color and scent, with light and memories materializing. Along with the sorrow of ‘missing’ your loved one, you place the surprising “In that instant I know all is well..”. Very tender expressions in here, Diana* ~~ the other Diana

Such a beautiful poem. You draw the reader into your experience of the moment, seeing the colorful fireworks and smelling roses in the night air. You share your deep sadness, but also, do I hint your letting go, acceptance of your loss and placing it among the stars? How wonderful! Thank you for sharing your lovely words with all of us.

Your "benign starlight" says it all as it swallows up "feelings of intense sadness". Such a beautiful, powerful love poem.

There certainly were explosions going on in my mind as I read. The kind that comes from ecstasy that we all secretly have but only shared it freely times on nights like this.

This piece has a strong, steadfast and evocative impact, Diana. Oddly enough, I read it immediately after spending about an hour on Gad Saad's (Professor and consumer behaviorist at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada) 2020 book, 'The Parasitic Mind'. In that fascinating book he discusses (among much else) the importance of developing nomological networks of cumulative evidence with which to separate reasoned, factual realities from fancied, imagined pseudo-realities.

Among the examples he draws upon as illustrations are biophysiological differences in male/female mating preferences (in both animal and human contexts) that demonstrate the (well established) fact that whereas males are principally motivated by sexual stimuli, females are primarily focused on romantic behavior. This has, of course, absolutely nothing to do directly with your poem, but it sparked what a friend called (strange term!) an 'earbug', or a snippet of song that endlessly (and annoyingly) keep repeating itself, over and and over and on and on, unbidden in one's mind.

When I read your poem, one such 'earbug' suddenly emerged in my head, a 1976 song written by a one-hit group blandly named the 'Starland Vocal Band', titled 'Afternoon Delight'. It has a refrain that goes "Skyrockets in flight, afternoon delight...". Of course, all innuendo aside, it's probably a good verification of Saad's illustration, LoL!

Lest you think I'm hopelessly sexist or mawkishly irredeemable in relating the above, take some comfort in knowing that I too have my deeply nostalgic aspects when it comes to very human tragedy of lost love. Your poem reaches into the quick of the common universal human experiential matrix we're all a part of, rest assured. Nicely done!
