And so it comes to this.

Tonight, I lean back
And inhale the strum of your guitar,
Sweet heavy spices in your voice
Rubbing me raw with wanting....

Romantic, you think it.

You sing of those you can't have -
Your happy parade of other men's jewels -
Just Life! you say, and Look! it's
Oh so sad.
(You fancy yourself a gypsy.)

And so we come to this.

I'm weary with your notions
Of fate and fulfillment,
Your hiding behind that curtain
You call Necessary Precaution,
Lamenting those you couldn't have.
Afraid to pick up the damn scissors.

And afraid of Possibility,
Which demands falling.
And real courage.
Fall.
I dare you.

I feel like i have met someone like this before, lol. You really painted a mood here, of the difficult and the exotic.

Susan,

I love the word usage. Your poem reinforces the statement that,"none are so blind as those who will not see." Sad in a way that knowing reality many only be a touch away. Welcome to The Den. Peace, Love and Blessings, Paul

the first stanza is beautiful
the spice in the voice... such a uniqu way of describing singing...

its sad that this person cannot see beyond themselves and failed love life to see the beauty before him... to see the one who does want him...

im a sucker for boys who sing... i prolly wouldnt care what he sung about hehe
