My Daddy passed away on February 4, 2015. I wrote several poems to honor him, this one is a tribute to him.
A TRIBUTE TO MY DAD
He was a Godly man,
And lived his life that way.
He taught us how to live and
Taught us how to pray.
He gave so much to each of us
A legacy, you say.
He served his country and loved the Lord,
And with everyone he knew
He left a piece of himself
A love that only grew.
The day his final chapter
Was read to each of us
Our hearts were quickly broken
But now we have to trust.
He fell asleep that day,
His pain, he felt no more.
For that day when he awakened,
It was on the Peaceful Shore.
The last words he said to me
Still ring within my heart,
I love you Dad, I know, but You
Always love me more.

This is a wonderful tribute to your dad. My dad has terminal cancer and will go to be with The Lord soon. It's messages like this that help all of us cope and understand we're not alone. Death is a part of life but never an ending. I believe in heaven. I know soon we will all be together again.

I hope that most of his 98 years were highly active. People that live that long generally are very healthy and active. Like my great uncle who lived to 98. His only battles were with fires because he was a fire chief for the town.
