Trust
Nighttime in a hospital bed.
Miles from home.
Tired. Frustrated.
Silenced by a tube
In my throat.
Unable to speak.
Coughing a lot of the time.
Very sick. Will I die?
Weakened from coma.
Nurse’s button impossible
To ring for help.
Scared of choking.
Scared to be by myself.
Reached out to God.
Prayed for His comfort.
Prayed for His help.
Cried tears of loneliness,
Fear, frustration, and anger.
Tears washed all of the emotions out.
Stillness came upon me.
Comfort. Love. Reassurance.
A gentle voice answered my prayer.
“Trust Me.” was the quiet answer
Placed so lovingly in my heart.
From that point on,
When an obstacle to healing
Arose to stymie my progress,
I remembered those words.
I leaned on them.
They gave me strength.
They gave me courage.
They healed me.
