This is a poem about Jesus's birth.

On a Clear Night

 

On a clear night

Millennia ago,

A Son arrived

For a young couple betrothed.

 

They had been told

By Gabriel, the angel,

That they would be blessed

With God’s only Son.

 

This complicated their relationship.

How could they explain His birth?

They would not be believed.

Why would God choose them?

 

A Roman census was to be taken

At each male’s place of birth.

Bethlehem was Joseph’s.

Off they went; Mary heavy with child.

 

No rooms were available at the inns.

Needed shelter for the night.

They found a warm stable for His birth.

Jesus soon slept quietly in its manger.

 

A spectacular star shone high above,

Proclaiming Jesus’s humble birth.

Shepherds and Wise Men came

To witness the newborn King.

 

Our Savior was born that night.
