I wrote this a long time ago at a time when I thought I had no time for anything important. Then I truly didn't have time for anything important. Now I have time for only what's important. Life can be good, though it took me a long time to learn it.
Spinning round and round we go
But life is just so long you know
The pieces like a puzzle fall
And naught is left beyond it all
We ride around this spaceship Earth
From the moment of our birth
And yet before we catch our breath
We kneel upon the door of death
Our lives so empty, minds so full
You'd think it was impossible
To solve the puzzle and be free
And reach into Eternity
Because we feel, because we see
We're bound to our reality
Our egos and our painful pride
Are spiritual suicide
And we drift, so cold in space
So much alone the human race
For it remains too dark to see
The brightness of Eternity
It sounds to me as though you might now be glimpsing the brightness of eternity, Steve. So much truth in this poem so well written. Visit me sometime. ~~Bonnie Q

..and as you opened to the light and what it entails you suddenly see that only love is worth while all the rest is just extra in the scenario..
You've done a great job of putting your finger on what I call the "two-edged sword" of intellect. It's humanity's greatest tool and at the same time its worst downer, knowing death is our ultimate destination.
