how life changes
Who will offer me forgiveness For something I should have known We - you and I - were so busy pretending you were fine Pretending you could do it all Your fall took us by surprise ... but did it really? You said you were always so careful .... But carelessness did not cause your fall It was optimism and the belief that life would never let you down I can't forgive myself for letting you down For joining in the game of pretending nothing bad would happen Yes - I warned you but knew in my heart I couldn't stop the very force that keeps you going Forgiveness will stay elusive for me As we danced the dance of pretending Life would never change. I think many times we would like to stop those we love from taking chances or pushing themselves too hard. but, quoting you, "I couldn't stop the very force that keeps you going."
To stand by(although you may be quaking inside) is a great compliment and a generous helping of loving support. "I believe in you" may be the most valuable gift we can give.
A touching poem.

An interesting write. We are what we are at any given time in our lives. Don't we all wish we could go back and in retrospect undo those "believed" wrongs we unwittingly committed. Life is being, getting, doing, analyzing, and then changing. It is constant.

Sometimes it's hard to predict the future. I know what you're talking about here and it wasn't your fault at all. You're venting and that's good. Beautifully written poem.
