Spectators look at the triumphant survivor and applaud,
Heaven sees the same survivor in the context of her history
and stands in awe.

We look at the survivor of neglect and abuse

When  we see her scars, we may think her obtuse,

For there she stands in her trembling rage

Or in fearful withdrawal, excessive dismay.

Coping skills well refined but in tune

With the need to survive, the chaos & ruin

of a life torn and mangled by uncaring hands

that have stolen her childhood with ruthless demands.

Her mind overwhelmed with her sorrow and shame

Sometimes it is hard to recall her own name.

But if we could measure as heaven sees

The extent of her pain and  her silent pleas,

The clattering voices that muddle her mind

And rape her emotions and plunder her life,

If we could assess her raw fortitude,

The distance she climbed from the pit of refuse,

To stand with her scars and her bad attitude

On the border of hell, if only we knew

How far she has come to present what we see

We’d rejoice in her strength and her glad victory!

If we could see her with eyes attuned from above

Could step in her shoes and experience love

With a heart that has pulled itself up from the pit

And cherish the healing that has poured into it

From the heart of a Father who knew all along

That she’d rise from the death of abuse with a song,

And live every moment in search of the truth

Every breath a prayer of sincere gratitude.

If only we saw as heaven sees, we’d find ourselves falling

Down on our knees to offer our praise to the God of us all

Who is able to keep us and make us his prize

By the strength of His Hand and the Love in His eyes.

For many its hard to get away from the cycle of being hurt and abused. They often feel they are somehow at fault. Its a sad and hurrendous way to live. It must take a lot of courage to get away from it.......M

The poem "The Raw and Painful Process of Surviving" IS the raw, painful and heartfelt truth! Regardless of our pains, trials or tribulations if we can hold, grasp and clasp our hearts along with the hem of His garments. Keeping the faith knowing that one has to pull up out of the pit become the victor we were created to be.
"...And cherish the healing that has poured into it
From the heart of a Father who knew all along
That she’d rise from the death of abuse with a song,..."
Then as you have stated sing out song loud and clear.

Blessings to you and your family,
Gwendolyn

Another word about this poetry, my friends is this: Heaven stands in awe at the glory of God revealed in and through mortal beings who put their trust, ever so falteringly, in their Creator. We blindly grasp His coat-tails and let him take us out of the darkness and despair of our wounding! To survive (abuse, abandonment, neglect) physically is an amazing feat of endurance and courage, to survive spiritually, is a testimony to the One who will never abandon his children. --
YES! Through FAith and Trust in HIM, who brings us through it ALL! All the distaste, bile and raw images that stand with us, as we continue out of our crawl, to STAND TALL!
I enjoyed reading Linda your caring knowing heart!
Thank YOU!
I so agree with much you wrote and feel!

WRITE ON!
He will never abandon us, and I believe, that is WHY I made it! as far as I did, knowing it all was happening TO ME daily, I felt my fathers Wife and not his daughter! That is my terror story, with his Physical abuse, Sexual and Emotional, JESUS strengthened my Soul! NOW! I can help another...
YOU make "MANY" wonderful and important points in this/ many verses!
Amen!
For HIM!
His Spirit becoming MINE! NOW!

Warmest Blessings of LOVE, LIGHT, PEACE and Inspirations, Warrior Purple Lady SHEExooo
WRITE ON!
God Bless YOU and YOURS LINDA! WE Have Risen with him, stronger than EVER! Thanks! To HIM!

Dear Linda, Very nice and deep. I liked especially:
"How far she has come to present what we see
We’d rejoice in her strength and her glad victory!" and "From the heart of a Father who knew all along
That she’d rise from the death of abuse with a song,
And live every moment in search of the truth
Every breath a prayer of sincere gratitude"
"Halleluya" Any abuse or suffering will dissipate with the distant approach of His light.
Love and God bless You, Emile

Linda,

Powerfully penned - some do rise above the cycle of abuse and neglect and refuse to carry it on - well done!

I really like this poem. If we only knew what others had been through and the pain that they experience it would give us a different attitude about them even and where they are at. God sees all the pain we and others go through and He sees all the healing that has taken place at Him hand! I love how much He loves us and gives us what we need daily! Love ya, Donna

Very positive write about a very negative experience in life. The abuse that some suffer as children is heinous and yet they manage to learn to love again and that there is more than pain and abuse in this world. Good write.

Ah, but the trick is to survive, dust yourself off and a pat on the back never hurt either. With God's love we can get through any situation, heartfelt tale well told...

Be always safe,
Karen

This plucked a string deep in my soul
And gave a few tears a chance to let go.

Thank you.

This is your anthem...and you have presented it beautifully. We do look at you with awe and yet...it is also evident that the Lord was a huge part of your healing process and therefore glory goes to him.
