How Can My Light Shine?

A little girl is tucked in bed by her mother. The stars and the moon in the sky get her to thinking about God and the mysteries of the world we live in.

How Can My Light Shine

One night a mother tucked her little girl in bed tight
Through her bedroom window she stared at the sky
And she wondered why the stars twinkled so bright
Then she glanced at the moon and his smiling face
And she wondered if he could talk to her what would he say

Would his voice be loud and scary or soft like the wind
Would he speak of great mysteries and places he had been
What about the sun, were they enemies or friends
Oh man in the moon, how do you shine
Her mother smiled and said 'the sun is his light'

Later as the little girl was laying in her bed
She thought about Sunday school and what her mother said
And she wondered what it meant to make her light shine
Then she thought of Jesus and began to pray
Again she wondered, if He would talk to her what would He say

Would His voice be loud and scary or soft like the wind
Would He speak of great mysteries and places He had been
Or would He just sit with her and want to be her friend
Oh Jesus, how can my light shine
Then she thought for a moment and smiled and said
'The Son is my light'
Yes Jesus the son, is my light
