A post holiday resolution to lose weight causes a heavy person to dig deeper into weight gain issues.

My Struggle

I stare at my computer through eyes filled with tears
Maybe if I eat something I'll feel better
It's the same ol' battle, food, my best friend and enemy for years

This bleak January winter I've lost my hope for spring
What came first, the emotions or the food?
I ponder, as I try to button up my jeans

I say weight is relative, as the tables say one thing and the scale says another
Why is it a struggle to get "healthy"?
I was the kid who was always hungry, not finicky like my brother

Why couldn't another past time have filled the void for me
Is it really boredom and depression?
It seems more socially acceptable to smoke, drink or take speed

All my life I've struggled to be thin
This extra weight, like a scarlet letter
Keeps people out and more sadly keeps me in

Please never be angry at yourself..it gives satan an entrance! We are each designed to be different and I understand your sorrows...as many are cruel in the way they perceive outward appearances of others. I have read some of your writings...and I see a lovely God loving heart in you! Some feed off of the heartache of others...as they are unhappy with their own selves. You are Beautiful and you love the LORD!!! What else could be better!

First I want to say that this is a well written poem.I want to tell you that loosing weight is one of the hardest things that a person can ever do or achieved.Sometimes loosing weight can take a lot of patience.I've been there before.Don't give up.Always be strong.Even if you don't reach for the moon, you will be with the stars.Always love yourself and be proud of who you are.Don't loose focus of your goal and most importantly don't loose focus on yourself.take care of yourself

Gina,
This is a poignant and heartbreaking poem to read. The cry for help here is a struggle I know only too well, with myself and friends and family. Don't give up yet. You deserve a chance to live without shame. Its not your fault, so hold your head up high. There is hope for you. First, pray and ask for guidance. There is a new day is coming. You have a new friend now.

I too have been struggling with weight this winter. I gained 25 lb in a years time, not good and now have to work so hard to get it off. Am trying but when I want to eat something I do, but do try to get fresh fruits, and veggies into me more. It is hard and I do need a buddy to encourage me to keep on the diet. Right now it is my youngest Kris and her daughter's grandma Pat. They both lost last year and are encouraging me to be on a diet and lose. Hope you try harder and do lose that weight too. You will be in better health and feel much better about yourself too. Just remember it does take time don't get discouraged.
