 OUR LAST ROSE,
I TALKED WITH BARBARA, WE CONVERSED. I TOLD HER YOU ARE THE CONNER STONE OF OUR  FAMILY.
I WAS AFRAID WHAT WILL MY MOTHER DO. MY THOUGHTS ALWAYS COME TO ME IN A DREAM, SO IT SEEMS.                      LAST NIGHT THE SPIRIT WAS THERE. IT WAS NO DREAM, I COULDN'T SCREAM
THE VOICE IN MY MIND SAID YOUR RUNNING OUT OF TIME. I WAS TOLD YOU ARE NOT A CONNER STONE OF THE FAMILY,

YOU ARE OUR YELLOW ROSE THAT TAUGHT US WELL
.
THAT YELLOW ROSE THAT CAN BE BEAUTIFUL, CAN WITHHOLD THE STORM AND THE RAIN,
MOST OF ALL A LOT OF PAIN. WHEN IT IS CUT, IT COMES BACK STRONG. YOU TAUGHT US THAT WE CAN BE BEAUTIFUL,
YET WHEN THE STORM COMES ALONG, JUST HOLD ON. THE
YELLOW ROSE WILL BLOOM AGAIN. YOU, OUR YELLOW ROSE THAT HAS CULTIVATED MANY GENERATIONS, WILL NOT JUST
BE A CONNER STONE FOR OUR FAMILY. WE WILL BE A ROSE,
LIKE YOU. KNOW WHEN TO SHOW OUR THORNS, AND STILL REMAIN BEAUTIFUL AND STRONG.
WE'VE LOST MANY RELATIVES IN THE PAST. WONDERING DID THEY KNOW THE
IMPACT THEY PUT INTO OUR LIVES. YOU DID SO MANY THINGS WITHOUT A WORD BEING SAID.
YOUR CHILDREN, NIECES AND NEPHEWS ALL HAD A SPACE IN YOUR HEART, I WANT TO TELL YOU NOW AND NOT WONDER
DID YOU KNOW THE IMPACT YOU PUT IN OUR LIVES.
THE POWERFUL EFFECT YOU HAD ON EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US WILL BE CARRIED ON.
I KNOW THAT NO ONE KNOWS THEIR ACTUAL TIME OF LEAVING THIS EARTH, WHO KNOWS ME
BEFORE YOU. EITHER WAY I WANT TO SAY, THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR LAST YELLOW ROSE.

Please except my heartfelt condolences, also, Wendy. I lost my mom, then 4 years later, my sister. I understand your pain and loss.

Hi Wendy,my condolescences go out to you and to your family. This was a poem in dedication to all the great things that she has mean to you and to your family. My favorite verse is "We've lost many relatives in the past, wondering did they know the impact that they put into our lives, you did so many things without a word to say".That was deep and beautiful. She is indeed a hero, but a quiet hero.A hero who doesn't need to be in newspapers or be famous.I'm having a Barack Obama hangover :-)

Its always important to leave a great legacy behind so that people, family and friends can carry on that legacy with a sense of pride. This poem expresses gratitude for what she meant to you and to your family with tears that flow like the river.Thank you for sharing this poem and sharing the memory of your aunt. Its greatly appreciated.take care

Edwin

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
