Written for my newest character, Esther Eagle.

 Little Esther wanted to soar,

and she knew if she couldn’t, that

she would stay bored.

Forever to perch on her silly branch

without ever knowing there

might be a chance

for her to soar.

She cried out to mother.

She frowned up at dad.

She squawked at a baby,

but her mother got mad.

What’s an eagle to do

when she can’t reach the sky?

When her little habitat

won’t allow her to try?

She tries again… and again… and...

Written for Esther, my newest children's book character in my newest manuscript The Eagle That Could Not Soar--which is hopefully sitting on the editor's desk awaiting reading and acceptance first thing tomorrow morning.

One of the long line of encouraging books for children who feel that they are a bit inadequate some way. Good luck with having it published and accepted by children and mothers everywhere.
