Wrote this years ago. It wasn't a happy day.

I thought I was safe, I thought they were gone;

Yet, painful memories, still carry on.

All that's around me, all that I find,

Is a key to unlock, memories in my mind.

Thoughts of a past, so full of pain

Are dancing around, inside of my brain.

Bringing me torment, tears to my eyes;

Memories, memories, so full of lies.

Hatred surrounds me, thoughts in my head;

Sadness and anger, engulfed in dread.

Tales from the past, so full of lies;

Memories, memories, tears to my eyes.

Try to escape, seal them away;

Suppressing all pain, by words that I say.

Fool those around me, hiding my soul;

But memories linger, pain is their goal.

Each day they strengthen, upon doors they knock;

Keys in abundance, no door left locked.

Bringing me comfort?  No, only pain;

Memories, memories, drive me insane.

Voices and echoes, pains of the past;

Kept in my mind, stored there to last.

Impatient feelings, want to break out;

Such vivid memories, containing doubt.

I hear them calling, my mind's eye does see;

Memories, memories, calling to me.

I cannot endure, much more of this;

Reliving memories, things that I miss.

Thoughts of the present, soon fade away;

Leaving just cares, of a long ago day.

Numbing sensations, filling my heart;

Memories, memories, will they depart?

Hating and loving, hurting and crying;

Darkness of memories, feels like I'm dying.

More doors to open, more keys to find;

Memories, memories, inside my mind.

Torture and torment, tears to my eyes;

Such pain filled memories, reliving lies.

Tales of a life, so full of lies;

Memories, memories, Tears to my eyes.

I hope your days are brighter now. The past is just that and today is a gift. Be Well. Warmth and Love

Hard to forget the hurts of the past but the happiness of the future clouds those hurtful memories that will not be relived but not forgotten.
