One of many unpublished poems written by my mother and dedicated to me when I was growing up. I, now, have the privilege of sharing them with the world under my by-line for her glory.
I Wish You...
I wish you Happiness...
Not just the kind that bubbles up,
But Happiness that is a quiet peace
Within your heart.
I wish you Faith...Faith that faces the blackest sky,
And says, "I trust."
I wish you Understanding...
So that your dreams will not be shattered,
Because you do not see the other side.
I do not wish you Fame, or Power, or Gold...
ButI I think what share of these that come your way
Will be the brighter, and the dearer, and still more sweet,
Because these things belong to you.
A poem written by Louise W. Sumlin for her teenage daughter, Ann.
A good way to raise an angel I suspect-
Wishing the right things.
This is precious on so many levels.
I am very busy sharing my parents- their gifts will reach out as long as I'm alive.
Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
Wishing the right things.
This is precious on so many levels.
I am very busy sharing my parents- their gifts will reach out as long as I'm alive.
