Happy Independence Day India-But can't feel proud

I am an Indian & today is our 64th Independence day & I don't know how to feel proud as rich people are getting richer & poor are poorer day by day.I think the whole world is facing the same problem,I request everyone to take small steps to make difference.

I am a 21st century girl

have a good job and life.

But when I see there are people

who can't sleep in night because they are hungary,

it really makes a hole in my heart.

I live in capital-Delhi

there are cars,malls,metro...everything

Thanks to great globalisation

I can enjoy wearing a global brand

But tell me how can I feel good

when 70% of my countrymates are living in villages

And they don't even know the G of Globalisation.

Majority of them don't have proper homes to live

how can they think of clothes.

I don't know how to feel proud

I don't know how to celebrate this day

Biggest irony is 40% of Indians don't know this fact.

Teens are busy in watching MTV &  shopping

their parents are more busy in earning for them.

Everyone who has money love to enjoy luxury

But what about the rest of 70%

who struggle throughout their life

just to have two meals in a day?????

Government is busy in hosting Commonwealth games

spending thousands of crores for guests

when our very own farmers are doing suicides

because they can's afford two meals in a day.

I know this writing is not going to change anything

but this is a request to eveyone

around each corner of the world

it's good to have money

but spend wisely

and help those who are needy.

LET"S TAKE SMALL STEPS

Start spreading awareness and educating illiterate people

start sharing your food with someone who is hungary

It's our world & we should make it equally well and shiny

FOR EVERYONE.....

I wish to see the India where everyone will be educated and have two meals everyday

I wish to see the world where everyone is happy and smiling....

EACH STEP MAKES A DIFFERENCE...

India also has a space programme and so it should. But governments who benefit the workers is a happy country and one in which the west could support with commerce.

Every country has similiar problems and solutions aren't easy. Perhaps your generation can do better than ours. I hope so. Perhaps your light can lead the way. Luke

I wish I knew the answer Yaduvanshi. Inequality and inequity in the world is universal, but in some countries like your own it is worse than others. You are wrong when you say "I know this writing is not going to change anything" because writing about this is the first of the "small steps" that you talk about. Reminding people that suffering still happens in our affluent societies at least provokes a response, like me writing to you!

Peace to you Yaduvanshi,
David

In America we pursue happiness it is not given to us. The poor will always be with us as history can attest. Yes by all means help the poor earn a lively hood and be generous with what we are blessed with and worked for.

Better Without You by Donna Lynch

'Better Without You'is a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of an affair, hidden secrets, and abuse. It also highlights a daughter's heartfelt journey as she cares for her mother who is battling dementia.

Middle Class Outing v2 by RickthePoetWarrior

It's about how middling we are and middle means middle only like a big middle and class isn't school and outing's not a trip.
