somedays one just needs to get "out there"...
~haven~ drifting sand dunes call vast horizon without end wanderlust unleashed sweltering heat beguiles senses mirages so distant and difused bearings lost in a sea of sand swift gathering of thunderheads rumble and roar with lightning strikes monsoon rains and flashfloods rage oasis for the pondering soul... copyright 2016 by cg mcgovern-bowen

Living here in the desert, I feel deeply your poem. I have seen and experienced its "sweltering heat" and "distant mirages". The desert is much overlooked as an expressive artifact of nature. A rich oasis indeed. John

Reads like the desert Southwest these days. If one is out there alone, I don't see much of a haven anywhere. But, if I read your title right, you are describing this place, itself, as a haven from something else.
