Where did my Babies go?

My three sons are all almost grown up now. I look at them sometimes and wonder,Where did my babies go?

I have three sons, with a few years between them each

They all had their own special time, their time to be my baby

At different times they all had big innocent eyes and bright blond curls These beautiful baby boys of mine

Each one had his very own sweet baby smile that always melted my heart

I've loved watching them grow over the years, tending their boo boo's and drying their tears

With hundreds of Baseball Games and learning how to Drive, it wasn't long until Prom Nights Arrived

Our busy lives just fly right by until one day I look up and cry

Where did all of my Babies go?

Now there are three young men, the youngest almost grown

The blond curls have long since been gone

And in Family pictures I'm the shortest one

I Love these young men and I'm as proud as I can be

But where are the babies I used to jiggle on my knee?

If I look closely, I see in their eyes or in a crooked smile

there are the same little boys, the babies, that used to play with me!

And so I talk about the good old days and how fast time flies by

I try hard for them not to notice the tears behind my eyes.

Yet they have no idea.
If only we could keep them at the toddler age.
You see the babies. They just wanna prove their manhood.

Life goes on...

huh!?!?! no kidding. I too have three boys my youngest is 17 now and almso grown and ready to face the world. It makes me happy and sad at the same time.
Once they go what will I do? I have no husband and not much else really. I have started writing books and thats all well and good but you cant give them a hug in the morning and say hey kiddo how'd you sleep? ughhhh this has to be the hardest part of being a parent...letting the go with a smile while it feels like your heart is breaking inside. hugs...empty nest syndrome here we come (sad grin) Thanks for sharing this though!
