Getting there...

           Receptionist

                by Brenda Joy Dobson

Usable and transportable

like oven-to-tableware,

she bounced without cracking,

blending well,

though many times, she was told

oil and water didn't mix.

Under-dressed, yet,

a little spicy, a little sweet

and sometimes, spoiled

by a lustful connoisseur,

and tossed about by "overlings"

like a wet, "green goddess" salad.

She self-subsisted on dreams until

a mentoring hero fed her "reality."

Then she submerged herself in

knowledge...

a lot of book, some street,

and many hours of plain old o-j-t.

Voraciously, she arose,

ignoring glass ceilings

all the way to the top.

Nice! It's a creative self-description. I can imagine you smiling as you wrote this and relived the journey that brought you to today.

:) How can this not bring a smile to your face with that empowering ending! I really liked the food words added in, it worked real well.

NOTHING LIKE...STARTING AT THE BOTTOM AND MOVING UP. SEEMS ONE 'APPRECIATES' WHERE GOD HAS BROUGHT THEM FROM SO MUCH BETTER WHEN IT STARTS FROM THE BOTTOM...DOESN'T IT? BEAUTIFUL BRIN...THIS IS 'YOU' ALL THE WAY. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS.

Interesting character description, Brenda. I particularly like this:

"Voraciously, she arose,
ignoring glass ceilings
all the way to the top."

Love and best wishes,

Regis
