Simplest Things

Remembering a lost love

Two glass coffee mugs,

              You loved steamy green tea.

A book of typewritten recipes,

and music tape,

              You made just for me,

Two caps,

one gray, one black

worn to bed,

             to keep the chill off you.

Soft, flannel-striped jammies,

Dozens of black socks, too.

The simplest things, left behind,

to mourn,

            And yes, still missin' you.
