Fortune Cookie (From Dinner at the Lotus Blossom)

Three (or four) of the members of our writers' group went out to a local Chinese restaurant one evening. As always, the mood was ebullient and much fun was had. My fortune cookie gave me goose-skin.

“You are a traveler at heart.
           There will be many journeys.”

I cannot stay here
Or there
            or anywhere
For the sake of convenience
            or convention.
My heart has always known
About moss, and stones,
And I, unlike the geese, the salmon,
Have no place to go to,
No place that I call home.
Yet, we are travelers all,
            on separate journeys
                        through the cosmos.

Although you "Have no place to go to" you are still going out there inside your head, traveling on the winds of imagination and words to far away places, riding on top of an eighteen wheeler filled with hundreds of fifty pound bags of rice that you loaded yourself until you sweated away ten pounds. I took that trip too--in my head.

Sad and lovely--But--even PAM has a home. Go find that home...you know where.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
