'My tears poured down and formed a reflective pool . . . '

Poem Artwork

Images of my childhood now remained covered

Just like winter's snow that covers the ground

The places and things that I did are no longer real

They melted away and never left a sound.

Even my photos of growing up have disappeared

No more 5 x 8's or 3 x 4's - now twisted, distorted

I can no longer distinguish what's white or gray

Now even those memories have faded away.

I looked for my footprints, they too have dissipated

They were somehow trampled on by newer youth

Realized I could never go back, started to cry

My tears poured down and formed a reflective pool.

A collection of my liquid hurt proved to be pensive

As I kneeled down to touch it, I found it to be shallow

It was escaping into the earth, all that was left was mud

Soon it turned quickly to dust and escaped into the wind.

Now I knew it was time to grow up, slapped my face

Told myself to get a grip, just like Old Man Winter does

Got back on my knees, looked up, asked for God's help

He reassured me, gave me faith - I no longer sit in solitude.

Solitude can be peaceful..and many never find any. This writing though, is the solitude of pain.

THis one moved me to tears Lance!!

(wink)

~Solitude~

Propositioned passions torment me
Conversation dulls me to inner wit
Why do I listen to thee in solitude?
Hope laid waste like winter solstice
Kneels me to dreams now faded;
Being taught on how to die –
Like fallen leaves flaked in time
Now whispering in frozen graves
Dwelling in the midst of vengeful sages
“Ach! der ist bald allein!”
My self-portrait canvasses like a snowy-slope
Its pain crystallizes in a whitened dell
No half-truths, no half-reasons
A short retirement urges a hasty return
All too reverend, somewhat visually impaired;
When dwelling on companions gone
Away! Away! To a new solitary place
Perhaps to a home where memories stalk
Umbrae as-to a shadow-less shade
In solitude, a constant vigil I will keep.

Sadness, tinged with hope at the end *whew* - thank God. Thought for a minute you were penning my life ... felt this one, deeply. Well done, Lance.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

ah, those memories...no longer real..part of the past...but they will pop up into one's mind, bidden or not.

Glad you found solace.

We are never alone, we always have God with us and for us. Sometimes though we feel alone even when in a room with others. But callng on him to take us out of our aloneness is good and we can know his presence with the blink of our eye. he never leaves us alone, we just feel we are alone sometimes.

No you are never alone. Very intense write and a little sad. But those memories are there, all of them. One will pop up, you'll see. As for the pictures, that's the sad part, but apparently they live in your memory too and who knows, one of those may pop up in your beautiful talented mine now and again. Love and hugs, Bonnie
