I can’t wait for the Spring
And to see what it will bring
I can’t wait to smell the beautiful flowers
Nourished by those refreshing rain showers.
I can’t wait for the Spring
To fly my kite at the end of a string
To watch it float effortlessly oh way up high
Up there with the birds in the blue noonday sky.
I can’t wait to see the Spring
And to hear a chorus of happy birds sing
As they hop merrily along from tree to tree
Hunting for bugs, nectar or even a careless bee.
Oh yes, I eagerly wait for the Spring
To see butterflies spread wide their wings
And beautiful flowers open daily before our eyes
Showing life’s simplicity and nature’s precious prize.
I hear it coming around the corner
Oh how I wish it could get here much sooner
Because I will be happy and enthralled everyday
As the snow and the ice slowly begin to melt away.
Let Spring come on along, as she will
Let her come and our empty lives to refill
Let her come to replenish a cold and dreary earth
With her flora and fauna, signs of a new life and birth.
Soon we’ll say bye to “Ole Man Winter”
Farewell to his cold winds and his chilly weather
But now we shall begin to prepare the velvet carpet
As Spring with her charm and beauty we prepare to meet.
Yes I will eagerly wait for you Spring
And all the magic that you will surely bring.
I will pray and wait patiently as my time I will bide
Like the groom who faithfully awaits his precious bride

Great piece of work. Ideal piece for children. Can hear the gentle tone of voice in the background. Keep up the good work.

Me too John...my sentiments exactly...nice write...floria
i don't like spring much here either; i think not having basements in the middle of "tornado alley" has something to do with that... good write, though! :) love, your friend, karen lynn in texas. (((HUGS))) :)
you must not live in texas...those "refreshing rain showers" often come in the guise of severe thunderstorms...with hail...high winds...severe lightning...flooding rains...and sometimes, tornadoes...although the spring is renewing...and warmer (supposed to be 82 degrees here today)...very lovely write! (((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
