My name is Chris, or Joe, or Mike or Brad. I'm a 20 something, 30 something, even 50 something and beyond. I am an average, ordinary, everyday warrior.
My job is carpenter, architect, engineer, truck driver, pastor or doctor. But this occupation is not who I am. Who I am is a warrior for the Lord.
Come with me for a moment into my world......
Early in the morning while it's still dark, I am prompted by the Holy Spirit to awaken. Although physically weary, my mind is sharp and keen. Step with me now into the battle field. Step past the threshold of my closet. I press past the clothes and sit on the floor. I kneel down before the throne; my knees weary from many previous battles.
"Son," the Father says. "Ms. Jane, the one who sits on the second row at church you know the elderly one? She's having a hard time breathing because her oxygen tank has run dry." So I pray for Ms. Jane, asking the Lord to cover her in her time of need. As I pray for her, the Lord shifts my attention to Bill, my coworker, whose daughter is caught up in the Goth movement. I travail for her with weeping and compassion. I pray for her future, her hope, her future children and her future husband.
Then the Father reveals that Pastor is tired and weary and that he's discouraged because the people have lost their will to work and the finances are no longer coming in. I pray for Pastor: That the enemy would not discourage him any longer, and that God would pour out a fresh anointing and refresh him.
You see, as I pray, my Lord sends angelic beings to do battle on my behalf, to comfort Ms. Jane, to snatch Bill's daughter from the enemy and to bring hope and peace to my Pastor.
You see, the enemy is cunning and he doesn't care if his victim is weak, tired and confused. As a matter of fact, he prefers it that way. But you see, I am a man of God and when prompted to do battle by my General, I must be willing to put aside a warm bed and the extra sleep, forsaking the comforts that would otherwise entangle me because there are those around me, entrusted to me, that need me. They need me to wage war!
I finish the daily battle by securing the perimeter of my home base. I pray for my wife and children and loved ones. These, too, are caught in skirmishes all around. And as I raise up from my knees, straighten my sore legs and wipe the tears from my eyes I exit the battle field and I thank the Lord that He has counted me worthy to come along side Him in this daily battle.
I shower and shave, get dressed, kiss my wife and run off to another day's work because I am an average, ordinary, everyday warrior.
