As legend tells its story, wolves that rule
in moonlight’s shimmer, pace beneath its light.
The journey weaves their family of school.

Their panoramic run in packs at night
seduce the barren scope and paths they roam
with eyes that mystify all those in sight.

On canyon’s rim or desert’s floor, they’re home.
By instinct, they are driven throngs across
New Mexico’s dry land on trails they comb.

In water, snow or rain, the wolves are boss.
The wilderness gives way and steps aside
as Lobos persevere to nature’s loss.

Wolves fascinate. They master realms of pride.
Wolves scare all nature; bully them to hide.
