While not true poetry, this is a song I wrote some 30 years ago. I have taken the liberty to employ "poetic license" for the sake of meter, so please refrain from correcting my grammer.

Home Grown Man

There’s all kinds of guides on how to dress for success

And how to act around the people that you meet

They’ll tell you where to stick the knife and how to use your fork

And what to do with your elbows when you eat

There’s books on body language and how to flirt with your eyes

To help you when you mingle with the crowd

It could be I’m too simple to remember all these things

‘Cause sometimes I get rowdy and loud

I’m a home grown man

I know that’s not especially in demand

You can take it or leave me I’ll still be what I am

I’m a home grown man

I never was the kind to be impressed with fancy cars

My old pickup truck gets me in to town

She needs a clutch She burns some oil and She could use a little paint

But so far She ain’t never let me down

Me and my little lady like to sit outside at night

And look up at the heavens from the yard

She says to me “I love you” I say “Honey I love you too”

Then I hold her close and thank the Lord

{That) I’m a home grown man

I know that’s not extremly in demand

You can take it or leave me I’ll still be what I am

I’m a home grown man

I’m a home grown man

Bubba I’m a home grown man

Right on! There's no man like a "home grown man". It's not the famous and fabulous that make the world go round, but all of us.

Nice song!!! I love it!!! The happiest lifestyle are the ones with lots of love and no worries; holding hands, and declaring love.
