Wild Beauty

At the age of 6, I had dreams about following a tiger through the woods. Later, when I was 9, I was being chased by a stranger on my way to school that led me to skip school. A friend took me to visit, a old and wise Indian woman with long braided hair, who lived alone in a cabin. I sat on the porch steps, when she told me the tiger was my higher spiritual guide, my protector. I must not let anyone stop me as I run towards my destiny like a 'Wild Beauty'. My dreams of the tiger and the old wise Indian woman inspired me to write this poem 'Wild Beauty' and because, I was saved that day.

Water falls, mountains, clear running streams
with tiny mirrors of reflections of souls that
shimmered like crystal beads on blue shivering waters.

Strange apparitions danced in wolf clothing and dreams
that came to life. Spirits exhaled a dark evil smoke from
their lungs. Spirits then swallowed down a luminous
drink of peace, light and  harmony.

Legions of warriors gathered in a circle in the cool brisk
flowing water with arrows of protection strapped firmly
across their chest of iron.

An old Indian woman rested on an old hollowed log,
chanting the rare prophectic words of a haunting host,
lingering with chill in the nestled woods.
The old Indian woman chanted with the spirits.
"Run towards your destiny like a wild beauty."

Out of the misty filled fog, stood a brave white tiger,
sent by the spirits appeared like a ghost that lock me
deep inside it's icy blue eyes that launched me upon
the waves of the ocean, preparing my future.

The great white tiger became my higher guide.
Protecting me from the unknown, gave my enemies
no place to hide.

Spirits from the past reunited around flames of fire to
celebrate with great pride. Running out of the burning flames
was a white tiger.  Together the spirits chanted the words,
"For your time has come to shine like a red ruby.
Run towards your destiny like a wild beauty."

Really captures some mystical experience with other dimension forces embodied in the tiger.

I love the wild. It is beautiful everywhere you look. Native people knew of its beauty and guarded that beauty with their lives. We have much to learn from those ancient mystical teachings of the spirits before it is too late.

Through the Amazon by S. Oliver Eldridge

The drug called "The Shari" has been used for vision quests over many years. But, when all the rivers start drying up, the tribe must send a young hunter named Tomás on a much more important trip through the Amazon.
