More often then not news is fake, or embellished or fudged.
WE cannot trust everything that is fed to us through social media.

Yellow journalism has been used to manipulate the masses for a long time. The free press comes with this risk. As you cleverly point out, there's no way to stop it. We must learn to live with it. Let the buyer beware!

Fake news may always have existed; but never perhaps to the extent that we are witnessing it today where it is all-pervasive. Even if the news isn't fake per see, the way it is presented and dissected by the "talking heads" makes it faker than it actually us. Well penned, Ron.

That's what happens when photoshop is so ready to create fake photos and those videos nerds are so skillful that they can create fake videos to convince the public. It's now up to us to use our intelligence to differentiate what is fake and what is real, and sometimes even so we would not be able to tell the difference. Politics is a very dirty game, especially in the U.S. The more advanced the technologies and more fake news it can create.

Hi Ron ... Well put, and topical, especially today!

Heard a guy on NPR the other day, think he wrote a book?
Anyway, he pointed out that �Fake News� went all the way back
to Bible Times, including the Old Testament. He said Spiritual was searching for
Answers, and raised questions, while Religious supposedly gave Answers !

Accordingly, Believers grabbed onto something, no matter how far-fetched, and rolled
with it, for milennia now!

Thus, �Fake News� is nothing New, it�s as old as the hills !

Ah, yes. The world of "alternative facts" to quote Kelly Ann Conway. As you point out, fake is in, fact is out in far too many circles. Your closing line is possibly true for some, but for some us (and I would include you) getting along with those who feel they have to believe it (fake news) is just not us. As I tried to express in Hands of Reason, the expression of irrational thought can be avoided by merely averting ones eyes and walking away. BTW, your compilation of ways the idea of fake news is delivered was spot on.

After Dottie died and I moved to Thibodaux I didn't get back on cable, I get enough of "fake News" on my computer. I do not read newspapers, not even online. So I am pretty much in my own little world, without anyone trying to confuse me with the facts, which nine outta ten times is "Fake News."
