It was her! My Other half, lost to me from Birth.

Poem Artwork

I could hear her from.behind a wall of trees

She didn't speak, just breathed

I caught her breath, it was full of torment

Crying out, save me, get me out!

Through the cracks there was streaming sun

I knew the had to be some way in

Like Alice in the Rabbit hole, a huge lock

Separated us 💔 forever!

I stayed there, waiting for a sound

Anything, but there was only soft gurgling sounds...

I was forbidden to go near that dark forest

On pain of severe punishment,

I did it anyway, punishment be dammed!

Finally leaving, in fight and flight

If I'd had Herculean strength that wall

Between us, would of been ripped asunder

So we could flee into the twilight

I walked back and forth like a caged lion

Time after time, looking up at the window

Atop the wall, wanting to smash it

Shimmy up, grab my Rapunzel..

Time ticked on, the Mad Hatter called Tea

Dormouse agreed, I listened to ancient babble

My mind always fixated, on the way in...

One sunny day, on my way to a housed Can

I stopped by a fence, to pick Chinese Gooseberries

There I stood enjoying the treat, till I looked up

And froze into the ground beneath me

There she was, in a small garden,

Wearing a  polka dot dress, hair of light brown

Cascading over the stump her head lay upon

An axe placed beside her head, facing away from me...

I was focused on her, the stillness, her legs

Dangling on the ground, no movement.

Then like a thunderclap came a dreadful roar

As he shouted," Get the Hell away from here"!

Still frozen in my boots, for a few seconds more

I realised he was tidying her dress at her buttocks

Another raucous shout, and I spat my berries, the ground

Released me, then I ran. RAN, AND RAN

I Dont know where I went, to this day it's all

Gone black, the 🕳 in the wall caved in

Silence deafened my ears from where I was

Wherever that was, however long it was!

I thought no more about it, it disappeared,

Like a dream, yet not, and I think it truly

Went down the rabbit hole, I couldnt find her!

One day I dirtied my dress, so I was washed, and given a polka dot

One to wear. I wandered a wasteland, from then on,

Wearing that green dress with white Polka dots

Never wanting to ever take it off, but I had too, they said!

60 years later, I see it all again.

I don't know where she is, I went there to try and

Get her scent, her vibe, but it's all gone, long gone!

All's left are vague haunting memories, everyday!

My only hope is beyond the blue,

I'll see her face in mine too

No more little dots, but pretty dresses

Matching, Neath blue sky  and seaside dreams.

I meet her there, yes, I know I will.

Till then, my otherself, wait on a little longer,

I'm coming to you! I'll never leave you

No walls will stand in front of us, cept Golden ones!

Quite a story, Ch'erie. Plays well in 'minds eye' too. Feels cathartic to me, like a purge from the past that has become more like a focused laser in the present. Yes.... He will never leave us or forsake us. And that glorious time is almost upon us. Good to see your name again. You have a unique voice. Much enjoyed. Peace. r

The Ravyn: Riding the Cyclone by Jennifer Sloan by Erin Kelly-Moen

This book has been eight years in the making. It is mostly a jumble of thoughts written down in old spiral notebooks and hidden in the bottom drawer underneath various manuals for software packages and hardware long since turned obsolete.
