The worry, the wonder, the realization,
the quiet, the concern, initializing determination
for moments yet to exist, in days to become,
a path we will sojourn amid path of bright sun
and nights soft orchestra which soothes us to sleep
under the heavens within starlight most deep,
between days of gray clouds where melancholy steeps
our cups in half-fullness or in overflowing peaks.
To include us among time which moves you and I
along living paths amid birds and butterflies
with their magic secrets we can not know,
such as how they use wings to lift up and go.
As we gather our days on this dear earth,
keeping our own truth for all it is worth,
when you were unexpectedly given to me
to comfort and care for, to treasure and keep,
in all your small trials as you grow each new day,
while I watch you to guide you along your own way.
The years of small tears, the years of little fears,
growing away as you accomplished with cheer,
the goals gained and met as you did as you ought
and we, you and me, was my most favorite thought.
