The bell rang for the end of the fifth bell. Sheldon Gray had three more question on his test to finish. While the other students were going about getting their books and leaving for the next class, Sheldon quickly finished his test. He was the last to leave placing his test on Mr. Archer's desk.
“You’re cutting it close today Sheldon.”
“I know” Sheldon answered Mr. Archer glancing at the clock
“I’ll make it,” He said determinedly.
He ran to his locker since the halls were nearly deserted. After quickly gathering what football gear he had in his locker, he ran for the door going towards the ball field. He ran quicker thinking ‘this is not the day I should be late.’
He rounded the corner to the path which took him to the appointed meeting place near the field. As he neared he saw that everyone was there but himself.
He quickly ran up to them smiling and saying quickly “I’m sorry I’m late” as he drops his football gear.
“Let us take hands, as we go before the Lord in prayer today.” The group of students took hands and began to pray.
They had fought hard and long for an opportunity to have a prayer meeting at school. And as they began to pray earnestly to God, Sheldon thoughts were on God and all he had done for him. He too prayed thankful of how his whole life had been football. Now that was secondary. His life was Jesus and hopefully to lead someone to Him.
As prayer ended, Sheldon began to read his text from the Bible, for the prayer meeting that day. He began to speak.
